Super walk along strand connecting to Ringend park, walk on beach when tide is out. Busy when sun is shining. You can see the shipping lanes in the distance and all of the industry of Dublin Port. On a dull day, Sandymount strand can look dirty, especially at low tide. However, it is actually a rather clean beach, insofar a city beaches go. The area running alongside the road is nicely landscaped with grass, flowers, and carparks. We went on a cold November day, so it was rather bleak. Have been there previously when the tide was a bit closer it goes out a long long way.
Good atmosphere on the strand when the sun is out. Sandymount strand is a pleasant stretch of beach which is very close to the city centre. Nice spot for a walk or cycle. However sandymount village is very pretentious and full of dreadfully unpleasant, stuck up locals. I wouldn't have people go out of their way unless they are looking for a modest beach like walk. Depending on tides this area has some beach to walk on with lots of clam and mussel shells.
Plenty of sea birds and shallow warm water. Their is plenty of paved walkway for a nice scenic walk.
